Our online program can be completed in two years. It includes an internship where you will observe a current district administrator (superintendent) and engage in administrative activities. Current and former superintendents will teach you how to effectively work with school staff, students, parents, community partners, and the school board for your district.
The Wisconsin Department of Instruction (DPI) officially changed the name of the Superintendent licensure to District Administrator.

Program overview
Ethical leadership is the foundation of Concordia's two-year online district administrator licensure program. You will enhance your knowledge and skills to become a reflective decision-maker for the school district you are called to serve.
- Courses are a unique blend of theory and practice taught by professors who are active in the field of education.
- Classes are in 8-week sessions.
- Online format has no required class times and you work independently.
- Virtual format has a set class time once a week. You will complete independent and group work.
And of the 21-credit requirement, 15-credits may transfer directly towards our doctorate in education program (Ed.D).
The best part about the program was the litany of superintendents and other experienced education professionals who taught the classes. They understood the obstacles we face today as educators and made the class discussions and assignments very pertinent to today's real-world challenges.

This concentration can be added to an existing Principal, Director of Instruction, or District Administrator license. The courses cover a wide range of topics, including legal issues in athletic administration, facility management, sports medicine, financial management, and leadership development. Start this 6-12 month program in August 2023.
More online licensures and degrees for educational leaders
This program offers three licensure opportunities for individuals pursuing leadership roles in education.
- Principal (DPI #5051)
- Director of Instruction (#5010)
- School Business Administrator (#5008)
Both the Principal and Director of Instruction licenses require students to hold a valid and current Wisconsin Professional Educator's License. However, students working to attain the School Business Administrator licensure are waived from the requirement to hold a teaching license or from having previous teaching or school district experience. All three of these licensures require a one-semester practicum.
Enroll in our Leadership in Innovation and Continuous Improvement (LICI) doctoral program to elevate your abilities, deepen your knowledge, and boost your confidence, to drive meaningful change in the field of education.
