Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experiences (IPPE's)
Two-week rotations are required during your P1 and P2 years of pharmacy school. You will complete a one-week rotation in a hospital pharmacy and a one-week rotation in a community/retail pharmacy.
There are no didactic courses on campus during rotations so you can focus your learning on the experiential site.
There is an option to enhance your IPPE's in P3 with electives where you can focus on more specialized areas of pharmacy practice.
Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences (APPE's)
Participate in full-time site-based learning at local healthcare settings during your P4 year. You will have a new APPE to complete every 6 weeks.
- Community Pharmacy APPE (required)
- Acute Care Medicine APPE (required)
- Hospital/Health System Pharmacy APPE (required)
- Ambulatory Care APPE (required)
- Elective APPE
I chose Concordia for many different reasons. I love the early opportunity to have rotation experience. The real-world application of what we are learning is something I think will be very beneficial to me. I absolutely love the campus. The faculty and staff have made me feel nothing but supported from the very beginning of the application process.

"A piece of advice is to go into rotations with an open mind. If possible, choose a variety of site locations. Every rotation, whether it is an area of pharmacy that you plan on pursuing a career in or not, is a learning and growing experience. Rotations are your chance to learn about new things and discover new areas in pharmacy that you may not have known about previously."

"Get involved and build your network. You will hear over and over how small of a world pharmacy is, and it is true. Starting to network early on will build friendships and connections that will last a lifetime. For example, a great way to do this is to join professional organizations and get involved in your community. The more experiences you have, the more you’ll know what you want to do with your career. Then, this will allow you to have the greatest impact on your patients while living a fulfilling personal and professional life."

"When it comes to coursework, the Pharmacotherapy series stands out right away. It was a beast of a class. But, it taught me the core of medication therapy management, care plan development, and independence in researching guideline-directed disease management."
